Dry, brittle hair rarely needs more product. It needs the right conditioner, applied the right way. Here's how our stylists use Redken All Soft Conditioner in the salon — and how to get the same result at home.

Key takeaways

  • All Soft puts moisture into dry hair rather than coating it — Argan Oil plus Redken's Moisture Complex.
  • It is light enough for fine hair and rich enough for coarse, frizz-prone lengths.
  • Apply from the ears down, never on the scalp, and give it two to three minutes.
  • Use it every wash; add All Soft Heavy Cream once a week when hair is severely dry.
  • Curly and coily hair should look at All Soft Mega Curls instead.

What makes Redken All Soft Conditioner different from an ordinary conditioner?

Most conditioners coat the hair. All Soft is built to put moisture back into it. The formula pairs Argan Oil with Redken's Moisture Complex, so it detangles and softens on contact while hydrating the fibre itself. Hair is left supple and glossy rather than heavy — which is why it works on fine, dry hair as well as coarse, frizz-prone lengths.

Used with All Soft Shampoo, Redken quotes up to 15x more conditioning than a non-conditioning shampoo alone. In practice that means fewer knots on wet hair, less frizz on dry hair, and a smoother finish from your blow-dry.

Who should be using it?

  • Hair that feels rough or squeaks when wet
  • Colour-treated hair that has lost its softness between appointments
  • Coarse or thick hair that tangles and takes forever to dry
  • Ends that look dull even after a fresh cut

If curls are the issue rather than dryness in general, the All Soft Mega Curls range is the better fit — you'll find both in our Redken All Soft collection.

How do our stylists apply it in the salon?

'The mistake most clients make is conditioning the roots. Shampoo the scalp, condition the hair. With All Soft I squeeze the water out first, apply from the ears down, comb it through, and leave it for a full three minutes. That's where the softness comes from — the product needs time to work.' — Mariska, Precision Cutting and Colour Expert, Partners Hair Somerset West

How do I use Redken All Soft Conditioner at home?

  1. Shampoo with All Soft Shampoo and rinse thoroughly.
  2. Squeeze excess water from the lengths — conditioner dilutes on soaking-wet hair.
  3. Apply a 20-cent-sized amount from mid-lengths to ends. Keep it off the roots.
  4. Comb through with a wide-tooth comb.
  5. Leave for two to three minutes, then rinse with cool water to close the cuticle.
  6. Once a week, swap the conditioner for All Soft Heavy Cream if hair is severely dry.

Frequently asked questions

Is Redken All Soft Conditioner good for fine hair?
Yes. It's lightweight for a moisturising conditioner and won't flatten fine hair when kept to the mid-lengths and ends. If you're prone to limpness, use less and rinse well.

Can I use it on colour-treated hair?
Yes. All Soft is safe for colour-treated hair and helps restore the softness that lightening and colour services take away.

Should I use it every wash?
Yes. All Soft Conditioner is designed for daily use. Add the Heavy Cream once a week if your hair needs more.

How long should I leave it in?
Two to three minutes. Longer won't hurt, but under a minute won't give the softness you're paying for.

What's the difference between All Soft and All Soft Mega Curls?
All Soft is for dry, brittle hair of any texture. Mega Curls is formulated specifically for curly and coily hair that needs deeper moisture and definition.

Where can I buy Redken All Soft Conditioner in South Africa?
At any Partners Hair salon, or online at partnershair.co.za with nationwide delivery.
