1. Start with dry or slightly damp hair — wax works on dry hair for matte finish, slightly damp for slightly higher shine.
2. Take a small amount — fingertip-size scoop for short hair, larger for longer or thicker hair. Too much wax weighs hair down and creates clumps.
3. Warm between palms — rub the wax between your hands until it's translucent and soft. Solid cold wax doesn't distribute evenly.
4. Work from back to front — apply through the lengths, then style with fingers for texture or comb for more structure.
5. Restyle as needed — wax stays pliable. You can rework the style throughout the day without re-applying.
6. Wash out at the end of the day — most water-based modern waxes wash out with one shampoo. Heavier waxes may need clarifying shampoo periodically.
