Soft waves or bouncy, defined curls — you don't need a salon chair for either. Two Veaudry tools get you there: the myCurl, a dedicated curling system, and the myAirStyler, which dries and curls in one. Here's how to use each, and how to pick the right one for the look you're after.

Two routes to curls

The myCurl is built for curls — interchangeable tourmaline ceramic barrels, 25 heat settings from 80–200°C, and the control to go from beachy waves to tight ringlets. It was even voted best curling wand at the 2019 Woman & Home Beauty Awards. The myAirStyler takes a different route: a 3-in-1 hot brush and air curler that dries, volumises and curls in a single pass for soft, bouncy, blow-out movement with less direct heat.

Before you start

For the myCurl, work on fully dry hair; for the myAirStyler, start on towel-dried, damp hair. Either way: apply a heat protectant, brush through, and split your hair into manageable sections — curling smaller sections gives tighter, longer-lasting curls.

How to curl with the myCurl

  1. Set your heat — 150–170°C for loose waves, 180–200°C for defined curls.
  2. Take a 2–3 cm section and wrap it around the barrel, away from your face.
  3. Hold for 5–10 seconds, then release.
  4. Catch the curl in your palm and let it cool there to set — this is the secret to curls that last.
  5. Repeat, alternating curl direction for a natural, undone finish.
  6. Once cool, break the curls up with your fingers or a wide-tooth comb and finish with a light oil or flexible-hold spray.

Barrel size matters: a smaller barrel gives tighter curls, a larger barrel or wand gives loose, beachy waves.

How to wave with the myAirStyler

  1. Towel-dry hair until damp, not dripping, and apply heat protectant.
  2. Rotate the brush slowly through each section, directing the airflow down the hair shaft for smoothness.
  3. Curve and pause at the ends to build bounce and movement.
  4. Let each section cool before you touch it, then shake out for soft volume.

It's ideal for everyday styling — you get a blow-out and soft waves in one step, with less heat than a traditional tong.

Make your curls last

The golden rule is to let every curl cool completely before brushing or touching it — warm hair drops straight. Avoid over-brushing, set with a flexible-hold spray, and let tourmaline do its part: by locking in moisture and smoothing the cuticle, it helps curls hold their shape and shine for longer.

Which should you choose?

Choose the myCurl for defined, long-lasting curls and the versatility to change up your look. Choose the myAirStyler for fast, soft, voluminous waves as part of your blow-dry. And if you mostly straighten but want the option of waves, the myStyler bends and flicks to create them too.

Frequently asked

How do I make my curls last longer?

Let each curl cool fully in your hand before releasing it, don't touch curls while they're warm, and finish with a flexible-hold spray.

What barrel size gives beach waves?

A larger barrel or wand on a lower heat gives loose, beachy waves; a smaller barrel gives tighter, more defined curls.

Can the myAirStyler curl and dry at the same time?

Yes — it's a 3-in-1 tool that dries, volumises and curls in a single pass, which is why it's such a time-saver for everyday styling.

Is curling bad for my hair?

Any heat styling carries some risk, but tourmaline ceramic plus a heat protectant and the right temperature keeps it to a minimum.
