Olaplex — Frequently Asked

How often should I use Olaplex No.3?

Weekly for damaged or chemically processed hair, and fortnightly for maintenance once hair has recovered. For severely bleached hair, use before every wash for the first 4–6 weeks, then reduce to weekly.

Can I leave Olaplex No.3 on overnight?

Yes — leaving No.3 on overnight under a shower cap delivers more intensive repair than the standard 10-minute application. It's particularly recommended for severely damaged or heavily bleached hair.

What is the difference between Olaplex and K18?

Both are bond-builders but use different chemistry. Olaplex (bis-aminopropyl diglycol dimaleate) reconnects broken disulfide bonds; K18 uses a biomimetic peptide to reconnect keratin chains. Many stylists use both — Olaplex for ongoing maintenance, K18 for intensive repair.

Is No.3 the same as the in-salon Olaplex treatment?

No — No.3 is an at-home maintenance treatment. The in-salon treatment (No.1 and No.2) is far more concentrated and applied during and after colour by a professional. No.3 maintains those results between appointments.
