This is the question we get most, so here's the honest version.
Traditional keratin treatments coat the hair shaft with a keratin layer that's sealed in with heat. They smooth beautifully, but the classic formulas relied on formaldehyde (or formaldehyde-releasing ingredients) to lock everything in, and because the treatment sits on the hair, it gradually washes out.
Brazilian blowouts are a category of keratin-style smoothing — same surface-coating principle, same gradual fade, same chemical considerations depending on the formula.
QiQi works differently. Because it restructures the hair's actual bonds rather than coating them, the smoothness doesn't rinse away over a handful of washes — it lasts until new, untreated hair grows in, typically 3 to 4 months. Is QiQi safe for coloured or bleached hair?
Yes — and this is one of its genuine advantages. Because the Vega formula is acid-based and works at a colour-compatible pH, it's safe for colour-treated and bleached hair, where alkaline keratin treatments can interfere with your colour. With the right timing between services, QiQi can be done around your colour rather than instead of it.
